I can't agree more. When my 2 year old kisses me for no reason what so ever, I feel like he's made a written declaration of love and thanks and bought me a diamond ring. As these instances are so rare I tresure them to a rediculous degree and play it over in my mind.
I know this sounds completely nutty.

I hear ya Tyler, since Sweet Cheeks was born it seems to have gotten more difficult with Smarty Pants. It really is hard to reason with them and take them time to do so when you have a small baby crying on the side, or are overtired from lack of sleep due to the baby!

We've been struggling lately with our 3 year old and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact the she's still getting used to a new baby in the house. We try our best to be truthful to her and tell her that we love her. I think she's been pushing her limits a lot lately and we are *pretty* good about keeping our ground and not caving in...it's hard to reason with a toddler when they get their mind set on something and mommy and daddy have other plans.

Thanks Treemama and you are absolutely right, it is a balance. The key is to not let those times when you have to make unpopular decisions get you down too much, and remember those "best Mommy in the world" moments, because even when you make an unpopular decision, you are still the best Mommy, it's just that your child might not realize it at the time!

Very nice. Sometimes I hate feeling like "mean Mommy", but other times I'm "the best Mommy in the world".

It's a balance isn't it. Nice post.
